Fried Fish and Tofu Balls are a popular Asian delicacy, particularly valued in Cantonese and Teochew cuisine. They are characterized by a dual texture: a bouncy interior made from fish meat and isolated soy protein, and a delicately crispy, golden exterior resulting from frying. Chiu Chow's balls are excellent as an addition to noodle soups, hot pot dishes, or simply reheated as a quick snack served with chili sauce.

The Chiu Chow brand, referencing the culinary traditions of the Teochew region in China, is known for high-quality processed fish products. Fried Fish and Tofu Balls are a variation of the classic Fish Balls, enriched with isolated soy protein (often referred to as tofu or soy products in similar items), which gives them a richer nutritional profile and a more complex texture. Their production is carefully controlled to maintain the ideal springiness of the fish paste (the "QQ" texture) that is so desired in Asian cuisine. Thanks to pre-frying in soybean oil, these balls have a more intense umami flavour and, when reheated, acquire a deep, golden colour.
They are extremely versatile in use. They can be quickly pan-fried and served as a standalone snack, submerged in aromatic ramen or udon noodle broth, or added to pho or curry soups. They perform particularly well in Hot Pot dishes (Chinese fondue), where they absorb the flavours of the simmering broth.
