BANANA SAUCE 320 g - UFC

UFC Banana Ketchup is an icon of Filipino cuisine, created as a creative alternative to tomato ketchup. During the tomato shortages in the Philippines, this national delicacy was made from the abundantly available bananas (making up 35.1% of the composition), which give it natural sweetness and a thick consistency. What distinguishes this sauce is its sweet-and-sour flavor profile, enriched with the aromas of onion, garlic, and spices, which perfectly complements Asian and Western dishes. UFC is a leading Filipino manufacturer. Banana ketchup is a versatile dip and condiment. It is traditionally used to top fried chicken (Filipinos love it!), lumpia (spring rolls), and tocino (sweet cured pork). It successfully replaces classic ketchup in dishes like spaghetti, hot dogs, burgers, or fries, introducing an exotic, tropical twist.

UFC (Universal Food Corporation) is one of the largest and most respected Filipino food manufacturers. Their Banana Ketchup is a source of national pride – a sauce that is synonymous with Filipino home cooking. Its history dates back to the 1940s, when a Filipino chemist and food technologist, Maria Orosa, created a recipe that utilized the abundance of local crops. The key to the unique flavor of this sauce is the high content of bananas (35.1%), which form the base flavor, differing from tomato ketchup with lower acidity and a more pronounced sweetness.

The combination of vinegar with aromatic additions like onion and garlic and a blend of spices creates a thick and velvety sauce (thanks to modified starch) that has a very appetizing color (achieved with colorants E110 and E123), characteristic of ketchup. This sauce is incredibly versatile. In Filipino cuisine, it is used not only as a dip for finished dishes but also as a sweet-and-sour base for pasta sauces and marinades. You can use it to glaze ribs or chicken wings for a glossy and caramelized coating with a tropical aftertaste. Its flavor is mild and accepted even by children, making it the perfect sauce for the family table. By choosing UFC Banana Ketchup, you are investing in authenticity.

This sauce is a symbol of Filipino creativity and proof that the best flavors often arise from simplicity and local ingredients. Add it to your pantry and discover the Filipinos' favorite sauce, which will bring an exotic breath of fresh air to your everyday meals.
